Please see the letter below which explains about the purpose of the Futures Fund
Futures Fund
The Fund aims to assist the local understanding and uptake of country pursuits, conservation practices and the approach that goes with it all, changing with the times over its 125 years. We know that to help secure the future and widen the appeal of countryside activities and the values that go alongside them we must encourage new participants, especially those who find it more difficult to join in from an increasingly urban world.
We have announced the raising of a “Futures Fund” for encouraging the Future of country sports in our county with an initial target of £10,000 which will enable us to offer two key areas for support by the autumn;
- arranged through our members we intend to provide mentoring or work experience for young people to participate in, amongst others, the running of a shoot, game rearing, conservation areas, food preparation and initial shooting tuition. You may be able to add to the list.
- to provide financial support towards the cost of a course or training in these subjects which could range from meat hygiene to a college course in game-keeping.
Our members are already contributing to this new Fund and will meet the costs associated with its establishment and running. We invite donations from those sympathetic to these aims and are prepared to help the Fund get established. Funds raised will be kept separate from the Guild’s normal accounts and all will be dispensed through a focused panel considering the merits of individual applications. Any contribution can be acknowledged privately or through our website and membership circulation as you might prefer.
If you can offer a donation possibly coupled with offering mentoring or work experience to give new youngsters some direct practical exposure alongside professional skills (locally and seasonally tailored) please contact committee members or use the link below.
The committee is very prepared to offer any clarification on the Fund and the uses to which it will be put directly or through info@essexgameguild.co.uk Thank you.
