News and Events – Update for members from the Chairman – March, 2025.
There is a Young Shots Day at Fennes, Bocking on 10th April for those aged 10-16.
The Guild will pay for this (normally £70) which includes gun, 50 clays, instruction and
lunch. Please let me know if you know someone who wants to get into shooting.
We are delighted that this summer’s shoot visit will take place on 16th June at 6pm at
Corn Hall, Sudbury Road, Bures CO85JP. Corn Hall now has the reputation of being
one of the finest shoots in East Anglia, let alone Essex. The proprietor, Rob Shelley, and
Trevor Edwards his well known gamekeeper, will show us round and talk through the
secrets of their best drives. Supper in a nearby pub afterwards so please put this date in
your diary and, if possible notify me or Julian (07710 680792) to help in booking catering
if you are coming.
Our autumn meeting on 6th October at 7pm will take place at Tuffon Hall*. Tim
Furbank from Oakbank Conservation has kindly agreed to update on the most recent
implications of SFI and how to get the very best for your shoot. Tim is very engaging,
amusing and insightful and will share his top tips as well as talk about being the father of
the (currently injured) England fullback. Supper afterwards.
